The Shampan itself is a canvas boat found in rural parts of Bangladesh and in many ways encapsulates the unique cultural heritage that Bangladeshis have brought to Britain.
Today, the Shampan is a symbol of the very essence of rural life for people from all walks of life in Bangladesh. So much so that even metropolitan types take their holidays in the countryside and enjoy the fun to be had from the Shampan.
It is the Asian equivalent of the gondola of Venice!
The menu content has been designed to bring out the best of the Moghul tradition of north India and Bangladesh. Our cooking is directed by our internationally experienced head chef, Anhar.
As the world becomes more aware of the dangers of artificial additives in food preparation, the Shampan is setting an example we hope other restaurants will follow. We never use food colouring or any other potentially harmful ingredients. |
